This section aims to briefly introduce the tools that have been used in this project.
Voyant is a web-based text analysis tool created by Stéfan Sinclair, Geoffrey Rockwell and the Voyant Tools Team. It enables to easily use a variety of tools to gain insights into the text being analysed. For example, it shows the word cloud of the most used words, provides a list of word frequencies, enables to search for specific words in the text and to compare frequency trends of different words or expressions. In this project Voyant has been used for the Analysis of Language and Linguistic Patterns.
AntConc is a free text analysis software developed by Laurence Anthony. Just like Voyant it enables to see the most used words and collocations as well as to examine the frequency patterns of specific words and phrases. However, AntConc has more flexibility in analysing collocations and the context the words occur in. In this project AntConc has been used for the analysis of Language and Linguistic Patterns.
QGIS is an open-source GIS (Geographic Information System) software. It enables to create maps and use them in various ways for geospatial analysis. In this project QGIS has been used for the analysis of Geographic and Spatial Patterns.
CartoDB is a web-based mapping and analysis tool. It enables to upload datasets online and visualise them on a map. In this project CartoDB has been used for the analysis of Geographic and Spatial Patterns.
Zotero is a bibliographic reference manager that can be installed as a browser plugin and as a separate standalone application. It enables to collect references, organise them and cite them easily and efficiently. Furthermore, Zotero Groups facilitate to contribute references to a shared library and create bibliographies for collaborative work. In this project we used Zotero to manage our Bibliography.
